Gearldine Wood, 76, of Hinton passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the home of her daughter Patricia following a long illness.
Born October 24, 1933 at Ramp she was the daughter of the late Lola Dick.
A member of the Ramp Holiness Church, retired employee of the Assessor?s and the Prosecuting attorney?s offices of Summers County, she had lived most of her life at Ramp but had spent the last six years of her life in Hinton, a loving mother and grandmother and friend to all that knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Kyle Wood; daughter, Glenda Dick; grandson, Shannon Dick; great granddaughter, Laura Nicole Cales and one brother, Ralph Dick.
Those left to cherish her memory include, four daughters, Carol Lowe and husband Richard of Kernersville, NC, Linda McKinney of Bluefield, Sandra Pigg and husband Donnie of McKee, KY and Patricia Cales and husband Lewis of Ramp; two sons, Bo Wood of Ramp and Kenny Wood and wife Bobbie of Wilmington, NC; twelve grandchildren, Ricky Lowe and wife Cindie, Marsha Hicks and husband Amos, Lola Pigg, Clara Arnold, Teresa Cales and husband James, Kyle Wood, Benjamin McKinney, Melissa Dick, Dennis Dick, Christi Macy Outlaw, Brian Wood and Justin Wood; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Bowles of Ramp and a special friend whom she loved as a son, Dan Northern and wife Connie.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Ramp Holiness Church with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Dick Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 P.M. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors and one hour prior to the services on Friday at the Church.
Ricky Lowe, Melford Ward, James Cales, Scott Cales, Dalton Robinson and Joe Northern will serve as pallbearers.
