Genetta Ballengee

Genetta E. Ballengee, 93, of Hinton was reunited in Heaven with family and Jesus on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born December 18, 1928 at Hix she was a daughter of the late Ulysses “Doc” Ward and Lillie Berry Ward.

Genetta was a former cook for the Summers County School District at Riverview School. She was also a former custodian at the United Methodist Church and Hinton Moose Lodge.  Genetta enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ballengee; ten brothers and three sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Butch Ballengee of Hinton, Kathy Rutherford and husband Dewayne of Hinton and Barbara Ratliff and husband Dickie of Covington, VA; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ivolene Bowles, Delsia Arbutus Gill and Elvie Collier and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Robbie Merritt and Roy Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park near Hinton.  Friends may call from noon until time of services on Friday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
