George Johnson

George Rudy Johnson Sr., 73, of Hinton, WV, formerly of Elkton, MD, passed away January 19, 2012 at the Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

George was born in Traphill, NC on May 3, 1938 and He was a son of the late Charlie Samuel and Verna Nicholson Johnson.

He was a wonderful husband, father, step father, Pop and friend to anyone who came in contact with him. His presence, kindness, and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. George was an exceptional carpenter by trade and retired from W. L. Gore, Assoc., he enjoyed hunting, collecting artifacts, guns, carpentry and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn ?Hootie Johnson and siblings, Louise Cook, Ivan, Garvey, Curtis, and Jessie Johnson.

George is survived by his children, George Johnson Jr. and wife Barbra, Debra Walker and husband Alan, David Johnson, Andrea Fritz and husband Chuck, Chook Trent and wife Rocky, Sis Trent, Ruby Heath and husband Joey, Brenda Bowling and husband Jackie, Jeff Trent and wife Debbie, Frankie Sears and husband Jay, Dean Cox and wife Danielle and Josh Cox and companion Lori; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, James, Thomas, Leff, Rex, and Donald Ray Johnson and his very dear and loyal friend Glenn Ennis.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church - 11985 Longbottom Rd. Traphill, NC 28685. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church Monday, from noon until time of services.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
