PORTSMOUTH, VA - George Edward ?Speedy? Krise, Jr., 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Suffolk, VA. He was born on May 7, 1922 in Hinton, West VA to the late George and Clara Christian Krise; and was a long time resident of Akron, OH. Mr. Krise, a member of Brent Lox Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA, was a World War II veteran and a country music icon.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Freda Mae Pettry Krise; three daughters, Georgia E. Gardner and husband Jim of Akron, OH, Donna S. Kilpatrick and husband Leo of Suffolk, VA; and Carolyn I. Burrowbridge of Birmingham, AL; a son, George E. Krise III and wife Ruth of Akron, OH; a sister, Irene Ball of Lewisburg, West VA; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many family members who will miss him dearly.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton, with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating.
