Gerald Blankenship, 69, of Pipestem died Wednesday May 4, 2011 at his home following a short illness.
Born June 5, 1941 at Narrows, VA he was a son of the late George W. Blankenship and Lorraine Dillon Gordon. Gerald was an electrician who had worked in many different areas and a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and bluegrass music.
Preceded in death by one brother, Larry D. Blankenship.
Survived by Neva Blankenship and Veronica Brabb, two sons, James A. Blankenship and fiancé Lisa Edwards of Pipestem and Gerald B. Blankenship of Pipestem; two daughters, Oda ?Sissy? Welch of Cleveland, OH and Stephanie Blankenship of Elton; four grandchildren, Stephanie and C.W. Welch and Blake and Lindsay Vandall; three sisters, Brenda K. Haase, Pamela Asbury and Joan Blankenship and one brother, Barry Gordon.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Rocky Mount Community Church with Pastor Buck Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Mount Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until service on Monday at the Church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
