Gilbert Wayne ?Possum? Petrey, 51, of Beckley, formerly of Summers Co. died 10:30AM Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the VAMC at Beckley following a long illness.
Born September 2, 1959 in Summers Co., he was the son of the late Gilbert W. and Glenna Richmond Petrey and had lived most of his life in Summers Co.
He was a Disabled Veteran of the U.S. Army and an avid outdoorsman that treasured his family and friends.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Fred Petrey and two sisters, Betty and Carolyn Petrey.
He is survived by one son, Josh Yancey and wife Kristin of Beaver; one daughter, Nichole Austin and fiancé Anthony Wills of Cool Ridge; one grandson, Connor Yancey of Beaver; five sisters, Nina Walters of Lerona, Kathy Yancey of Fairdale, Florence Keaton and husband Lonnie of Pipestem, Sarah Martin and husband Scott of Clayton, NC and Angie Richmond of Lerona; one brother, Mike Petrey and wife Michelle of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Dan Holstein officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery on Powleys Creek. Friends may call at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 11:00AM until funeral time on Tuesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
