Gloria Harrah

Gloria E. Surbaugh Harrah, 76, of Green Sulphur Springs, formerly of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 4, 2011 at home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 3, 1935, at Meadow Creek, she was a daughter of the late John Ezra Surbaugh and Mary Elizabeth Surbaugh Hume.

Gloria worked for the Summers County Board of Education as a cook at Sandstone High School. She was a lifelong seamstress and homemaker who enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Gloria loved her grand and great-grandchildren and was known as "Granny" to all children.

Preceded in death by one son, Clyde Matthew Williams; two brothers, Ralph Surbaugh and Chester Surbaugh; one sister, Mabel Surbaugh and one grandchild, Sara Williams Haystead.

Survived by her children, John Williams and wife Gayle of Kannapolis, NC, Leonard Williams of MacArthur, Kathy Henson and husband Duane of Madison, Alabama and Suzanna Harrah-Martin and husband Larry of Green Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard, Raymond and Kenneth Surbaugh and Jackie Hume; two sisters, Virginia Hall and Joyce Lilly; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Rita Richardson.

Funeral services will be held, 1:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Bob Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from

6-9PM Wednesday.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
