Goldie Haynes Howerton, 81, of Talcott formerly of Bud went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born June 1, 1932 at Wyoming County she was a daughter of the late James S. and Elsie Dunford Haynes.
Goldie had attended Pillar of Truth Church and was a member of Summers County ARH Auxillary. She was formerly a hostess for Interstate Inn in Maryland. Goldie lived the latter part of her life in Summers County where she was known as "Lady Gold". She enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music and dancing.
Goldie was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph Howerton Sr. ; three brothers, Edward Haynes, Arthur Haynes and Frank Haynes; one son, Jerry Howerton; one daughter, Donna Santiago; two granddaughters, Brenda Hufnagle and Pamela Reyes and one grandson, Anthony Howerton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carol Huber, Charlene Adams and husband Gary, Ralph Howerton and wife Ann, Phyllis Landin and husband Ronny, Terry Howerton and wife Sherry, and Donald Howerton and wife Michelle; nineteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; one great great grandson and two sisters, Clara Byess and Janet Cox.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Wes Comer and Ron Iddings officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Alexander Cemetery at Sartan. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
A reception will follow at the Trinity United Methodist Church at Talcott.
