Goldie G. Reed Shires, 88 of Alderson passed away Saturday November 7, 2020 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
Born September 15, 1932 at Ronceverte she was the daughter of the late Trussie Sr. and Lora Lawhorn Hoylman. A member of the River of Life Church at Alderson and a homemaker and farmer who enjoyed cooking, gardening and hunting.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Reed, second husband, Jim Shires, one daughter, Kay Smith Carter; one grandson, Richard Allen Kincaid; five siblings, Beulah Boyd, Virginia Ellixon, Elaine “Buttercup” Dixon, James Hoylman, William Hoylman and Trussie Hoylman Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include four children, Robin Ward and husband Tony, Brenda Honaker Holliday, Vickey Kincaid and husband Sammy and John Reed and wife Judy; a grandson whom she reared, Rick Honaker; thirteen grandchildren, Nathaniel Ward and wife Ashton, Kelsey Ward and husband Kenneth, Nicholas Ward and fiancé Alexis Hanson, Ethan Ward, Wally Kincaid, Chris Kincaid, Jodie Duffield and husband Dan, Jaime Baker and husband Brian, Julie Perkins and husband Justin, Jonna Lemieux and husband Jason, Kristen Smith Tincher and husband Eddie, Molisha Smith Samples and husband Ty and Jennifer Smith Skaggs and husband J.J.; twenty five great grandchildren, Kalianna Faith Ward, Jace Ward, Aiden Dunn, Ryder Fenney, Spencer Fenney, Wilder Fenney, Bailey Honaker, Jocelyn Lemieux, Jordan Lemieux, Jenna Grey Baker, Gabi Baker, Zack Baker, Ashlyn Perkins, Braylon Perkins, Liam Perkins, Steve Alderson, Brandon Alderson, Dalton Tincher, Wade Tincher, Wyatt Samples, Isabelle Davis Aiden Skaggs, Andrew Duffield, Philip Duffield and James Duffield; one great great granddaughter, Camden Lemieux; one brother, Dale Hoylman and wife Terri; two step grandchildren, Regina Holliday and husband Thomas and Nicholas Darren Holiday and wife Mandy; nine step great grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron, Christen, Courtney, Callista and Christopher Holliday, Tyler, Joshua and Makala Nicholas; three step great great grandchildren, Waylon Nicholas, John and Addy Holliday, many nieces and nephews; three special family members, Donnie Carter and wife Susie, Donna Deskins and Sharon McCallister.
For the safety of the family and the community private services and burial will be held with Pastor Anthony Carter.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nathaniel, Nicholas and Ethan Ward, Rick Honaker, Wally and Chris Kincaid.
