Grant Hinton

Grant Lee Hinton, 63, of Hinton went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2010.
Born October 3, 1946, in Hinton, he was the son of Wyatt K. and Virginia Lee Davis Hinton.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church at Madams Creek and attended Hinton High School where he played right tackle for the Bobcats. Grant helped his father and mother with the Hinton Dairy and Hinton Farms. In 1976, he established and was owner-operator of Hinton Excavating Co. where he was loved and appreciated by his many customers and friends over the years. Because of his excellent excavating capabilities, he earned the title ?best dozer operator? in Summers Co. He worked for many years for the Southern Soil Conservation District. He was a loving, caring, devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Besides his parents, Grant is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie Sue Craft Hinton of Hinton; one daughter, Janet Hinton and fiancé James A. Miller of Hinton; one son and co-operator of the Hinton Excavating Co., Christopher Grant Hinton and wife Michelle; four grandchildren: Matthew D. Hinton also a co-operator of Hinton Excavating Co., Crisa Lynn Hinton, Dalton Lee Hinton and Harley Brown; and one brother, Thomas J. Hinton Jr. and wife Rhodetta of Hinton
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Rev. William ?Bill? Thompson and Rev. Tommy Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinton Family Cemetery on the Hinton Farm at Madams Creek. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Ray Rexroad, Roger Bolen, Keith Bowling, Josh Bowling, Joseph Bowling, Duane Rudisill, Brent Jones, Norman Farley Sr., Norman Farley Jr., Bret Whitten, Lee Gill and Junior Gill will serve as pallbearers.
Bill Lightner, Eddie Ratliff, Robbie Hedrick, Ed Cole, Mark Meador and Dr. Stanley T. Day will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, it was Grant?s request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
