Gregory Scott Reed, 33 of Summers County passed away Saturday January 9, 2010 at Summers County ARH. Greg had battled diabetes for the last 27 years.
Born September 16, 1976 in Summers County he is the son of Roger and Patty Ratliff Reed of Madams Creek.
He was a 1994 graduate of Hinton High School who played on the Bobcat Football and Baseball Team where he achieved Second Team Coalfield Conference in 1994. A lifelong resident of Summers County, Greg was a loving husband and father and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working on cars and watching NFL Football.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Jane Wiseman in September of 2004 and his brother John Roger Reed Jr. in June of 2009, maternal grandfather Jack Ratliff, his paternal grandparents John and Evelyn Reed, Maternal great-grandmother Goldie Bennett, paternal great-grandmother Ollie Goff and a special aunt Liz Beasley.
Besides his parents those left to cherish his memory are his wife Amy Elkins Reed and their children Aidan and Abigail at home and Jaden of White Oak. One sister Pamela Reed Hartwell and husband Jonathan of Charlotte, NC., maternal grandmother Lola Ratliff of Madams Creek, father and mother-in-law Fred and Peggy Elkins of Talcott, sister-in-law Erica Reed of Hinton, three nephews Parker Reed, Sylar and Zackery Hartwell.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastors Melvin Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral parlor.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Gibson, Shannon Cales, Osbey Cox, Mike Bennett, Zach Gill, Jackie Lee Ratliff, Eddie Ray Harrah and Chad Meador. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Martin and Kevin Sarver.
