Gene H. ?Tommy? Harrah, 68 of Meadow Creek, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at his home, following a battle with liver cancer. Born January 21, 1937 at Claypool, he was the son of Leoda Bell Harrah of Meadow Creek and the late Jesse Harrah. Gene was a 1961 graduate of Sandstone High School and the Durham Institute of Barbering in Durham, NC and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He had worked for General Motors in Pontiac MI for seven and one half years and retired from CSX Railroad after 32 years of service. He enjoyed studying the Bible and was a true believer in YHVH. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife Georgiaetta Harrah of Meadow Creek, and one daughter, Suzanna Harrah-Martin and husband Larry of Beckley, six stepchildren; Donna Crook and husband Jeff of Berkley Springs, WV, Debbie Judy and husband Aaron of Lindside, WV, Kathy Henson and husband Duane of Madison, AL, John Williams of Pittsburgh, PA, Matthew Williams of Beckley, WV and Leslie Berry and wife Susan of Hinton, WV, two brothers; Junior Harrah and wife Nellie of Meadow Creek and Billy Joe Harrah and wife Gail of Pensacola, FL, one sister, Susie Novell and husband Jerry of Princeton, WV and numerous loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 5, 2005 at the Claypool Cemetery with Bud Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy should be made to the Hospice of Southern WV, 105 S. Eisenhower Dr., Beckley, WV 25801. His family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
