Harold F. "H.F." Cooper, 75, of Hinton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, March 10, 2017 at Main Street Care following a short illness.
Born April 21, 1941 in Hinton he was the son of the late Harold Cooper and Nadie Lusher Cooper Lilly. H.F. was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He loved to read and study his Bible especially the Old Testament and he was referred to by his friends as the Old Testament Scholar. H.F. was employed by the YMCA in Hinton for 15yrs until it closed and he then went to work for the City of Hinton for 26 years until his retirement in 2004. A former member of the Hinton Lions Club and a founding member of the Hinton Jaycees he enjoyed collecting political memorabilia, 1959 graduate of Hinton High School he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for many things but especially his kind spirit and his love for all.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Carl Lilly and his sister, Susie Cales.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Betty Henderson Cooper of Hinton; sister, Nancy Cooper Hogle and husband Claude of Hinton; brother, Greg Lilly and wife Nancy of Jumping Branch and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Merritt and Brent Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from noon until service on Wednesday at the church.
Chuck Gwinn, Brian Cooper, Fred Huffman, David Williams, John Cobb and Jimmy Gore will serve as honorary pallbearers.
