Harry I. Garrett, 88, of Athens, GA, formerly of Hinton, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at his home in Athens. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Reid Garrett, his parents, Alex Newton and Lottie May Morrison Garrett, his son Douglas I. Garrett, his daughter-in-law, Ann B. Garrett and five siblings. Harry was a retired train dispatcher for the CSX Corp., a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hinton, and the Hinton Masonic Lodge. Survived by his granddaughters, Dawn Newton and husband Mark and Haley Skinner and husband Russell and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Bob Glaser officiating. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 6-8 P.M. Thursday. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.
