Harry Cecil Miller, 90, of Hinton, went to be with Lord Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in the Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital at Hinton following a long illness. Born July 23, 1917 at Ballard he was the son of the late Dewey Miller and Effie Susan Jane Cooper Miller Bare. Harry had lived the early part of his life in Hinton where he graduated from Hinton High School. He was a member of the Bellepoint Baptist Church in Hinton. Harry and his wife Polly had worked together at the Ritz Theatre where they met. During the war, they worked at Willowrun Bomber Factory in Ypsilanti, Michigan assembling B-24 Bombers. Following the war they worked at the West Virginia State Prison for Women at Pence Springs. In 1956 Harry went to work for Ford Motor Company from which he retired in 1981 after 25 years of service before returning to Hinton. He was preceded in death by his wife Polly Frances Briers Miller on August 1, 2001, his sister Pauline Vass and his half sister Betty Bare and two nephews William J. â??Billâ?? Briers and Jim Vass. Survived by a daughter Patty Lilly and husband Johnny of Hinton. Three nephews Harry Lee Vass and wife Sheila of Staunton VA., Tom Briers and wife Martha of Hinton and David Briers and wife Rachel of Huntington. Three nieces Donna Lyle and husband Doug of Staunton VA., Margaret Cook and husband John of Port St. Lucie, FL., Joan Monroe and husband Jim of Hinton and a niece by marriage Sue Briers of Hinton. Twelve great nephews, Greg, Zach, Davie, Tom Jr., John Charlton, and Billy Briers, Charlie and Matt Steward, Jack David and Joseph Woodrum Craig and Mike Lyle; eight great nieces, Tammy Holterman, Tina Meadows, Becki Briers, Jennifer Guthrie, Jennifer Butler, Kim Shaver, Teri Alderson and Michele Jolly and several, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastors Bruce Creswell and David Board officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from noon till time of service on Saturday. Donations of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
