Helen Rule

Helen N. (Ward) Rule, 81, of Peterstown went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Peyton Hospice House following a long illness.

Born January 9, 1940 at Sandstone she was a daughter of the late Edward Harvey (Shan) and Stella Faye Ward.

Helen was a member of the Community Family Worship Center. She was a cook for the Summers County Board of Education with 29 ½ years of service. Helen loved hunting, fishing, singing, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her previous husband and singing partner, Frank Brumit; one stepson, Danny Brumit; one daughter-in-law, Vera Bennett; three sisters, Ruth Wright, Mary Farmer and Virginia Carol Ward and one brother, Howard Junior Ward.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 10 years, Michael L. Rule; three children, P.J. Bennett and special friend Terri Tefft of Lindside, Rebecca Garletts and husband Mike of Hinton and Robin Anderson and husband W. Cameron of Knoxville, TN; stepson, Michael L. Rule Jr. and wife Annie of Peterstown; nine grandchildren, Missy Nairn, Mike Bennett, Adam and Chris Marcum, S. Nick and Josh Canterbury, Jeremy Rule, Steven Brumit and Melanie Stewart; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; five siblings, Charlie Ward and companion Christine Gill, Deloris Young, Bea Taylor and husband Jimmy, Jewel Bruce and Millie Nelson and husband Jim and special niece, Carolyn Foster.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Assistant Pastor Pete Dunford and Pastor Willis Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral parlors. Family and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
