Herbert C. ?Herb? Hancock, 82, of Cleveland, OH formerly of Beckley entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 25, 2009 with his wife of 64 years, Mary Virginia and his nephews, Gerald Canterbury and Dr. Bryan Canterbury at his side.
Born August 20, 1927 at Beckley, he was a son of the late Hugh and Jessie Hancock. Herb was employed by Tri-Craft Plastics of Cleveland, OH and he was well known in Southern West Virginia because of his many auctions that were held at the old Forest Hill School. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Eugene, Freddy and Marvin, who was killed in action during World War II; two sisters, Virginia Lyons and Mildred Dillon.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Mary Virginia ?Gin? Meadows of Cleveland, OH and several nieces, nephews, friends and antique collectors, who knew Herb through his auctions.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery at Hilldale. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
