Herman Lee ?Butch? Arnold, 66, of Pence Springs, entered into eternal rest, Monday, July 9, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born April 4, 1946 in Jumping Branch, WV he was the son of Amy Juanita Arnold of Hilldale and the late Joshua Arnold.
Besides his father he is preceded in death by his infant sister, Diane Sue Arnold and his mother and father in law, Johnny and Helen Fisher.
Herman served 6 years in the US Army?s 101st airborne division, obtaining the rank of sergeant and serving in both Korea and Germany. After leaving the Army he began a job as a mechanic for the CSX Railroad and retired after 38 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, welding, mechanic work and NASCAR racing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his very devoted and beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara Fisher Arnold; an adopted son, Junior Gill; and his faithful ?ole dog? Zoey; five sisters, Hazel Marie Hughes of Salt Lake City, UT, Ruby Mae Bennett of Hinton, Nora Kay Tillery of Rocky Mount, NC, Betty Ann Maroni of Mount Vernon, IL and Tena Smith of Nimitz; two brothers, Ralph Jordan Arnold of Marie and David Claude Arnold of Alderson; sister in law, Dreama Fisher of Pence Springs; brother in law Wayne Fisher of War Ridge and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Pence Springs Community Church with Pastor Roger Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9p.m. Thursday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors and one hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Junior Gill, Bob Cales, Dale Hedrick, David Jones, Stacy Jones and Ronald ?T? Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be CSX Railway coworkers and friends.
