Hershel B. Ward, 78, of Marie entered into eternal rest Saturday January 8, 2011 at his home. Born September 18, 1932 at Sandstone WV he is the son of the late Reverend James Earl and Cora Alice Bragg Ward.
Hershel was retired from Hercules Inc. in Covington, VA, Caretaker of Camp Brookside in Brooks, WV, and currently employed by the Summers County Council on Aging in Hinton, WV. He attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was an avid WVU Fan who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by 3 brothers; Bobby Gene Ward, Earl Ward Jr., Harry Ward. Five sisters: Glora Hodge, Opal Johnson, Margie Bleau, Geneva Jones and Elizabeth McGraw.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Mary C. Bostic Ward; three sons, Steven Wayne Ward and wife Cheryl of The Woodlands, Texas, Hershel Dale Ward and wife Shirley of West Milford, WV, and Jeffrey Ned Ward and wife Mary of Hagerstown, Maryland; one daughter, Karla Ann Tabor and husband Mike of Marie, WV; seven grandchildren, Sara and Stephanie Ward of The Woodlands, TX., Zachary Ward of West Milford, WV., Jeffrey Ned Ward Jr. and wife Jennifer of Hagerstown, MD, Dani Lee Kelley and husband Michael of Leesburg, VA., Matthew and Katie Tabor of Marie, WV; one great grandchild, Christopher Ryan Ward of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Kenneth Ward and one sister, Gail Cantley both of Alderson, WV.
Funeral Services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastors Sam Groves and Sam Haught officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Parlor from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
