Howard Thomas (Tommy) Crook, 70, of Jumping Branch, WV, went home to be with the Lord following a long illness on Friday, February 7, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.
He was born May 16, 1943 at Jumping Branch, WV, the oldest son of the late Howard Taft Crook and Myrtle Alice Irwin. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Jumping Branch Tabernacle and Mary Jane Memorial.
Tommy was a truck driver and business owner. He worked at Crook's Produce for over 30 years and was a self employed truck driver until he became disabled in 2000.
"Tommy was a devoted father and doting grandfather."
He is preceded in death by one son, James Thomas Crook.
He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Mary Frances Crook; one son, Jeffrey Thomas Crook and wife Cherie, of Bristow, Va., one daughter, Diane Crook-Nichols and husband, Douglas, of Saint Cloud, Fl.; 4 grandchildren, Madison Ellee Nichols, Auburn Grace Nichols, of Saint Cloud, Fl., Noah Thomas Crook, Joshua Ronald Crook, of Bristow, Va.; two sisters, Ramona Kay Bennett of Bellpoint, WV, Lucretia Meador of Woodstock, Ga., three brothers, Robert (Bobby) Ferrell Crook and companion Helen, of Port St. Lucie, Fl., Roger Dale Crook and wife Sue, of Jumping Branch, WV and Ronald (Ronnie)Dare Crook and wife Maudie, of Charlotte, MI. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton, WV.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jumping Branch Tabernacle with Pastors Ernest Calfee and Elmo Alderman officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Crook Family Cemetery in Jumping Branch, WV.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
