On Thursday, September 12, 2013 Howard R. Helton crossed the tracks to be with his heavenly father.
Born December 8, 1923 to the late William Cleveland Helton and Kathleen Helton he was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired engineer of the CSX Corp. His passion in life was his family, he loved each of us with all his heart and taught us to be strong, honest and caring people. He loved to ?tinker?, whether it was in the yard, garden or any of his many projects. His smile and laughter brightened the lives of many and that smile will be greatly missed.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Neal and Creel Willen and one brother, Bill Helton.
Those left to cherish each wonderful moment and memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Kalen Helton; a daughter, Debbie Gwinn and husband Danny of Nimitz; three sons, Willie and wife Angie of Rock Hill, SC, Howard R. ?#2? Jr. and wife Lisa of Roanoke and Mike and wife Sarah of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Samantha and Sara Gwinn, Robert Helton, Jordan and Sam Helton, Mikey and Jon Howard Helton; three great grandchildren, Justin and Jonah Zimmerman and Charles Ray Lucas.
For as much as he loved each one of us he will be doubly missed.
