Howard Edward ?Blue? Stanley, 82 of Hinton passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham, NC following complications from a surgical procedure.
Born March 23, 1930 at Kayford in Kanawha County he was a son of the late Moody Stanley and Bessie Irene Stanley Wickline.
Blue was a United States Army veteran having served in Korea as a Combat Engineer in the Second Infantry Division, a miner and in later years a clerk for many local businesses and produce stands. He was an avid Major League Baseball and NFL Redskins fan who loved bluegrass music and collecting aluminum cans. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Stanley and Cecil Stanley and one sister, Rhoda Rust.
Survived by one sister, Sue Cox and husband Roy of Hilldale; five nephews, Eric Cox of Hilldale, Bill Cooley and wife Stacy of Beckley, Steve and James Stanley of Cleveland, OH, Cecil Stanley Jr. of Eastlake, OH; three nieces, Erin Cox of Hinton, Karen Marion of Chardon, OH, Debbie Wise of Cleveland, OH; three great nieces that were close to him, Samantha Cooley, Marty and Melissa Marion; several other great nieces and nephews also survive; one sister in law, Rose Dorsey of Eastlake, OH; long time girl friend, Margie Weikle and her family of Union, his neighbors, David, Phyllis and D.J. Staley and Ruth Russell, as well as his many friends at the Summers County Bus Garage, Hinton Senior Citizens Center, Kirk?s Restaurant and First Community Bank in Hinton.
Memorial services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 5:00 P.M. until time of services.
