Ida Marie Meadows Nelson 86, of Ballengee went to be with her Lord and Savior August 24, 2008 in the Springfield Center at Lindside after a long illness. Born March 29, 1922 at Talcott she was the daughter of the late Bert and Mary Meadows. Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and a member of the Riverview Chapel in Hinton where she presided over the nursery for many years. Her hobbies were crocheting and crafts and she made many loving gifts for family and friends. Ida had a green thumb which she built into a greenhouse business from which she sold flowers and garden plants in the spring. Even though she was very industrious, her door was always open to family and friends and she was loved by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Nelson; a granddaughter, Bonnie Nelson Woolwine; and nine brothers and sisters, Dorsey Meadows of Wayside, Brady Meadows of Forest Hill, Vada Meadows of Ballengee, Lula Clarkson of Gap Mills, Rosetta Wooten of South Charleston, Ollie Huffman of Willowood, Ruby Cosgro of Detroit, MI, Herbert Meadows of Avis and Harold Meadows of Buck. Survived by six children, Charlie Nelson and wife Amber of Ballengee, Beulah Lopes and husband Anthony of Ballengee, John Nelson and wife Nancy of Greenville, VA, Brenda Radford of Beckley, James Nelson and wife Millie of Ballengee and Timothy Nelson and wife Tamara of Ballengee; ten grandchildren, Charlie Nelson Jr. of Roanoke, VA, Mark Nelson of New Castle, VA, Laura Frango of New Castle, VA, Craig Lopes and Carrie Danton of Hooksett, NH, Crystal Collins of Springfield, MA, Marsha Grant of Waynesboro, VA, Dora Radford of Charleston, Gina Luoni of Fairmont and James Nelson Jr. of Ballengee; two step-granddaughters, Ann Rose of Marie and Laura Huffman of Raleigh, NC; six great grandchildren, Josh, Chris, and Nathan Nelson of New Castle, VA, Kaylee Grant of Waynesboro, VA and Jerry and Jessica Woolwine of Stuartsville, VA; one brother, Orville Meadows and wife Mamie of Pembroke, VA and two sisters, Elizabeth Jones of Forest Hill and Goldie Leadingham of KY. Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Ballengee. Friends may call from 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.
