Jack Surin 60, of Madams Creek died suddenly August 13, 2009 following an apparent heart attack at his home.

Born April 10, 1949 in Chicago, IL he was a son of the late John and Eileen Marie Regan Surin. Jack, along with his wife Yvonne owned and operated Grandpa?s General Store and Grandpa?s Riverview Lofts. A former Auto Mechanic Instructor at the Summers County Career Center, Service Manager for H&N Ford and Garten Ford and a Machinist for the CSX Corp. An avid outdoorsman and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Jack was a skilled gunsmith and designer and an extremely talented wood and metal worker.

Jack was known as Grandpa and Mountain Jack, he was an honest and principled man who knew the Lord and knew himself.

Survived by his wife, Yvonne Surin of Madams Creek; three daughters, Michelle Carmichael of Beckley, Carolyn Richmond and husband David of Nimitz and Jessica Surin of Madams Creek; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Carmichael of Beckley; two sisters, Laurie Penev and husband Christian and Barb Grass both of Chicago, IL; one brother, Jim Surin and wife Maureen of Chicago, IL; four nieces, Stephanie Penev, Jenny D?Agostino, Ashley Surin and Amy Guin; three nephews, Nicholas Penev, Brian Rash and Rob Grass and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor William Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in the DeQuasie Cemetery at Lockbridge. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until time of the service on Sunday.

Friends and members of Grace Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
