James Allen "Jim" Ball, 57, of Pipestem went home to be with the Lord, Sunday March 30, 2014 at his home following a long illness.
Born October 18, 1956 at Hinton he was a son of the late James W. "Jack" and Macel A. Berry Ball.
Jim attended Pipestem Southern Baptist Church. He was a 1975 graduate of Hinton High School and a member of the Hinton High School Football Team with honors. Jim was a former Deputy Sheriff of Summers County with four years of service and Chief of Security at Pipestem State Park with 29 years of service. He was also a former governor of the Hinton Moose Lodge.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Daniel and Pearl Berry; paternal grandparents, James Allen and Freda Hedrick Ball; one nephew, Chance Edward Harvey and father and mother in law, John and Imogene Meadows.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ball of Pipestem; step son, Dowain Thompson and wife Kristin of Pipestem; step grandchildren, Amber and John Mark Thompson of Pipestem; two sisters, Norma Shumate and husband Butch of Pipestem and Elizabeth Harvey and husband Donald and their daughter Brittany Cochran of Hinton; nieces, Rhonda Willey, Amy Richmond, Lisa Miller, Tammy Crandlermire, Mandy Grimmett and Kelli Adkins; daughter in heart, Heather; brother in heart, Ricky Albert and brother and sister in law, Ronnie and Debbie Berry.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Roles Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
