James Douglas “J.D.” Fox, 68, of Hinton began his eternal life Friday, March 27, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born September 5, 1951 at Gauley Bridge he was a son of the late Ira L. and Violet Arrington Fox.
J.D. was the former pastor of several churches in the community and the current pastor of Faith Baptist Church at Pence Springs. He was instrumental in the administration and support of the Light of the World Christian Day Camp and Director of Promise of Life Gospel Ministries. J.D. was a retired employee of the Summers County Board of Education teaching in the school as well as homebound. He enjoyed reading, gospel music, ministering to his church family whom he had grown very close to and spending time with family and friends, especially during holiday meals.
J.D. was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Swartz and Violet Dosier.
Those left to cherish his memory include one brother, William L. “Bill” Fox and wife Dixie of Jumping Branch; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his “right hand man,” Chuck Gwinn.
For the safety of the family and community, services will be private at this time with Pastors Butch Honaker and Robbie Merritt officiating.
