Janet L. Richmond

     Janet L. Richmond, 88, of Talcott passed away July 12, 2022 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

     Born November 9, 1933 at Griffiths Creek she was a daughter of the late Oakland S. and Lillie M. Honaker Bowden.

     Janet was a former employee of the Summers County Board of Education as a math and reading teacher and a teacher’s aide at Hinton Area Elementary School. She helped to form the Community Action Office in Summers County. She also served as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Office of Economic Opportunity during the Johnson Administration. Janet enjoyed poetry, writing hymns, gardening, memorizing recitations and spending time with family and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Richmond; great granddaughter, Nicole Booth; three step sisters and one step brother.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her seven children, Susan Richmond, Steven Richmond, Sandra Humphries, Danny Richmond, Marsha Richmond, Sara Richmond and Lori Ann Richmond; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
