Janice J. Meadows

Beloved Christian, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother,

Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Janice J. Meadows, went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2022.

Janice was born October 6, 1943, in Forest Hill, WV to the late Hubert

Basil and Nancy Catherine Russell Richmond. She was a 1960 graduate of

Hinton High School and a 1985 graduate from Concord College. Janice

earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and

completed her Master of Arts in Elementary Education in 2004.

Janice worked at the West Virginia University Extension Office in the early

1980s. Upon completing her Bachelors, she began doing what she

loved—teaching children. For 19 years, Janice taught Kindergarten at

various schools in Raleigh County. She retired with 24 years of service.

Janice was a very devout Christian and attended Bluestone Baptist Church

every time the doors were open. She loved music, gardening, and

reading. Janice found most of her joy with her family.

            Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson,

Joseph Ray Meadows; sister, Sarah Richmond; brothers, Jimmy Russell,

Jerry Richmond, Mannie Richmond, and Omer Richmond.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 58 years, Jimmy Meadows; son, Ray Meadows of Shady Spring; two daughters, Tammy Sheffler and husband Loren of Tennessee and Donna Pedri and husband Mike of Cool Ridge; grandsons, William Bennett and wife Ashley, Mason Bennett and wife Alex, Joshua Sharp and wife Harley, and Jordan Parker; granddaughters, Emma Pedri and Ella Pedri; great-grandsons, Harrison Bennett and James Bennett; six siblings, Georgia Southern of Montana, Ivan Richmond of Ohio, Linda Richardson of Nallen, Rex Richmond and wife Barbara of Freezeland Mountain, Doug Richmond of Bragg, Rebecca Richmond of Tennessee and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Joshua Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Family Cemetery on Freezeland Mountain. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2022 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral parlors.

Pallbearers will include sons-in-law, Loren Sheffler and Mike Pedri, grandsons, William Bennett, Mason Bennett, Johua Sharp, and Jordan Parker.
