Jennie Cook, 88, of Ellison Ridge went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at CAMC General Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born February 17, 1927 at Hinton she was the daughter of the late Oscar M. and Estella Adkins. She was a former custodian for the Lilly Heights School at Ellison, a Christian who enjoyed gardening, farming, sewing, spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Fred D. Cook; infant son, J.T. Cook; four brothers, Corbit, Blane, Willard and Lewis Adkins.
Survived by two sisters, Eva "Ida" Cook of Pipestem and Hallie Adkins of Hinton; one brother, Zina Adkins and wife Mary of Hinton and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Cemetery at Ellison. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
