Jeremiah David Yancey, 30, of Shelby, NC formerly of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 12, 2020 following an apparent heart attack.
Born July 9, 1989 at Fairlea he was a son of Beverly Carol Cales Yancey Gill and companion Teddy Bennett of Forest Hill and Timothy Glen Yancey and fiancé Stacy Crawford of Pipestem.
Jeremiah was a 2007 Summers County High School Graduate where he was a member of the football, basketball, track and baseball teams. He was owner and operator of Tiny Construction Company prior to moving to NC. Jeremiah was an employee of R-Annel Housing Group in NC. He attended Orchard Christian Center in Ballard, LifeLine Church in Hinton and through his faith in God he overcame his addiction and was instrumental in helping others fight their addiction while living with his Aunt Renee Lilly and her husband Jamie and his sisters Aleah and Ariel. Jeremiah enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, spending time with family and friends and brightening everyone’s day with his loving “bear hugs.” He was affectionately known as Miah, Tiny, Remy, Jeramoma, MyMy and will be sadly missed by all.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Wanda Yancey; maternal grandparents, Kathy Painter and Edha Madeline and John Burnett and a cousin, Angela Petrey.
Besides his parents he is survived by his fiancé, Kasi R. Wise of Shelby, NC; children, Mason Bennett and Isabella Davis of Hinton; two brothers, Matthew Yancey and companion Mia Crawford of Hinton and Mark Yancey and companion Jasmine Brown of Hinton; two sisters, Lindsey Gill of Forest Hill and Tabitha Gill of TN and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends whom he loved dearly.
Graveside services and burial will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Remy’s Rest Cemetery in Forest Hill with Pastors Rusty Hughes and Mark Bayles officiating. Friends may visit from 1:00 – 3:00 Sunday at the cemetery. Please wear facial coverings and practice social distancing as per guidelines.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
