Jesse “Jay” Willard Gill II, 71 of Meadow Bridge went home to be with the Lord February 20, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital, Charleston, following a long illness.
Born July 26, 1953 at Beckley he was the son of the late Jesse W. Gill and Delsia Arbutus Ward Gill.
Jay was the owner and operator of Gill Drilling for 40 years; he also drove for Southern Sanitation until he became ill. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed watching old westerns, working crossword puzzles, setting on the porch watching the deer and turkeys and especially watching all the grandchildren play.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Gill; brother, Doug Gill; sister, Cindy Richmond; and two nephews, Craig Richmond and Joshua Gill.
Those left to cherish his memory include Helen his companion for 22 years, whom he affectionately called “Mae Belle” and knew she would always be by his side; son, Drew Gill of Hinton; stepson, Curtis Coughlin of Grassy Meadows; stepdaughter, Christina Cabell (Brian) of Angier, NC; sister, Debbie Parker (Steve) of Trenton, OH; brother, Timothy Gill (Diana) of Wytheville, VA; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Gary Claypool and Tony Critchley officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral parlors.
A private burial will follow at a later date.
