Jimmie G. Ward, 76, of Pipestem formerly of Roanoke, VA went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 2, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital following a long battle with cancer.
Born July 21, 1940 at Hix he was the son of the late Mathew and Felicia Berry Ward.
Jimmie was a member of the Rocky Mount Community Church and retired from Roanoke Electric Steel with 21 years of service. Jimmie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, grooming his yard and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jimmie was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty six years Caroline Sue Ward at home; his children, Karen Sue McCarty of Greensboro, NC, Jimmie G. Ward Jr. and wife JoAnn of Roanoke, VA, Sandra Kay Jackson and husband Ron of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Jasper Jackson, Kristina McCarty, Dabney Ward and Carson Ward; two sisters, Gladys Flinchum of Christiansburg, VA and Mae Hamm of Parma Heights, OH; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday, December 5, 2016 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Mike Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park near Hinton. Friends may call from noon until time of services Monday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
