John Harvey

June 15, 1929 — September 10, 2006

John Raymond Harvey, 77, of Rainelle, died at his home, following a long illness. Born June 15, 1929 at Streeter, he was the son of the late Wade and Bessie Pack Harvey. Mr. Harvey attended the Orient Hill Baptist Church and was a retired auto body repairman. Preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Yancey Harvey; two brothers, Charles and Gene Harvey and a son-in-law, Richard Hammerberg. Survived by his wife of 18 years; Janis Ferguson Harvey; four sons, Danny Harvey and wife Mona and Edward Harvey and wife Pat both of Poplar Grove, IL, Lewis Halstead and wife Janet of Davidson, NC, and Michael Clark of Midland, NC; four daughters, Maretta Brown of Sacramento, CA, Janie Hammerberg of Plainfield, IL, Linda Brenner and Husband Doug of Mondovi, WI, and Missy Lilly and Husband Mark of Midland, NC; two brothers, Vernon Harvey and wife Lottie of Gallipolis, OH and Leroy Harvey and wife Glenna of Fairfield, OH; two sisters, Carol Gregory and Companion Ed Hurd of Blairsville, GA and Janice Deeds and Husband Gary of Jumping Branch; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Frank and Shanda Dosier of Rupert, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Billy Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
