John H. Richmond, 82, of Brooks, died 10:00 P.M. Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Summers Nursing and Rehab at Hilldale, following a long illness. Born January 5, 1926 in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late William Howard and Mary Bama Hogan Richmond. John was a retired timberman and truck driver who served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Brooks Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife Alice Richmond in June 2001, two brothers, William and Clyde Richmond and one sister Margaret Helmick. Survived by one son, Robert Richmond of Hinton; one daughter, Rosemary Greene of Hinton; one sister, Mary Bell Richmond of Jumping Branch; four grandchildren, Tina Bennett and husband Jerry, Darrell Greene Jr., Steven Greene and Jeffrey Greene; six great grandchildren, Jessica Greene, Andrea Lee and husband Jeremy, Jennifer Bennett, Jonathan Bennett, Heath Greene and Haley Greene; and one great great grandson, Jeremy Michael Lee Jr. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in Raleigh County. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
