Johnnie Carlos Smith, 58, of Blue Sulphur Springs, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born August 17, 1953 at Hinton, he was a son of the late Jessie and Gladys Phillips Smith.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents whom reared him, Oscar and Eva Smith; three brothers, James, Mike, and Billy Lynn Smith and one sister, Patty Lou Smith Mitchem.
Johnnie was a member of the Grassy Meadows Gospel Lighthouse at Grassy Meadows and was a construction worker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Kay Adkins Smith of Blue Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Kala Gail Lynn Smith of Blue Sulphur Springs; two sons, Johnnie Carlos Smith III of Blue Sulphur Springs and Jason Smith of Texas; one sister, Edith Coffman and husband Steve of Jumping Branch; one brother, Steve Allan Smith of Hinton; two adopted sons, Billy Lynn Smith II of Nettie and Joseph Wayne Smith of Lewisburg; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Ennis Cemetery in Meadow Bridge with Pastor Butch LeGrand officiating. Friends may gather at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 10 A.M until 11 A.M. on Tuesday prior to departing to the cemetery. Services will be conducted at the cemetery upon arrival. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
