Joseph John Szilvasi, 52, of Hinton, died Sunday, January 13, 2006, in an apartment fire, in Huntington, WV or the Joe Szilvasi Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund, c/o Reachh, 411 Temple St., Hinton, WV 25951. Born September 5, 1954 at Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Annie J. Ignatz Szilvasi of Carrick, PA and the late John Szilvazi. Mr. Szilvasi was graduate of West Virginia University with a Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance, a former employee of FMRS Mental Health in Hinton for 15 years, as a Child and Family Therapist. He was a member of the Ascension Episcopal Church in Hinton. He was very active in the youth soccer league and started the Summers Co. High School Soccer Team. This was an accomplishment he was most proud. Joe was a member of the Hinton Lions Club. He worked with those who advocated for persons with disabilities and always fought for the rights of the disabled. He was attending Marshall University to obtain a second masterâ??s degree. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Stephanie Lynn Szilvasi. Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Jennifer Szilvasi of Louisville, KY, one grandson whom he reared; Benjamin Hill of Oak Hill and two granddaughters; Aislin and Meghan Adkins of Louisville, KY, one brother, one sister and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Joeâ??s wishes, his body will be cremated. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1 PM at the Ascension Episcopal Church at Hinton with Fr. Adeeb Khalil officiating. His ashes will be interred in the church columbarium.
