Juanita Basham

Juanita Moore Basham, 94, of Hinton, WV, went to our Lord in Heaven on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the home of her son and daughter-in-lawâ??s in Barboursville, WV.Juanita was born May 10, 1911 in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alta Castijo (Castle) Moore of Houston, TX. She was the oldest of five children and the last survivor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Basham in 1966 and a daughter who died at birth. She was a retired Summers County educator, principal, teacher, 4-H leader and community activist. Mrs. Basham graduated from Hinton High School and Concord Teachers College. She received her Masters Degree and Principalship from Marshall University and had a PhD in education from West Virginia University. She loved teaching and especially art and expressed herself in oil, acrylic and water color painting. She loved all the children and let them know it. We miss her with all our hearts. She is survived by her two sons, John Basham and wife Shirley of Martinsville, IN and David Basham and wife Ann of Barboursville, WV, and their families. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Ronnie Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Basham Family Cemetery at Mt. View. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 6-9 P.M. on Wednesday.
