Juanita F. Garten, 71, of Brooks went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 23, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 23, 1938 in Summers County she was a daughter of the late Clarence F. and Charlotte Cales Rider. A former Nursing Assistant at Summers Co. Hospital and Summers Co. Continuous Care Center she was an avid gardener who enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Garten; one son, Roger Bragg and one daughter, Linda Marie Bragg.
Survived by one son, Glen Rider and wife Shirley of Brooks; two daughters, Barbara Mullins and companion Jimmy of Roanoke, VA and Melanie Priest and husband Ray of Brooks; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Gail Ward and husband Lacy of Brooks.
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 26, 2009 in the Bragg Family Cemetery at Brooks with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
