Juanita Evelyn Lilly Pack, age 83, of Stahlstown, PA, formerly of Huntingtown, MD, passed away surrounded by her husband and children, at Concordia at Bethlen Personal Care Home in Ligonier, PA in the early morning hours of April 3, 2025.
She was born October 10,1941 in her grandparents log home in Ellison Ridge, WV. She was the daughter of Ernest Lynch Lilly and Virgie Mae Cook Lilly. Paternal grandparents were Thomas W. Lilly and wife, Mary E. Farley Lilly. Maternal grandparents were George M. Cook and wife, Lula M. Hughes Cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terrence Lee Pack; her brother, Murvel L. Lilly and his wife Dorothy Wright Lilly, her sisters, Wanda J. Lilly Gill and husband Jerry, Nancy L. Lilly Bartin, Geraldine K. Lilly Hill, and four infant siblings. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Orene Neely Pack and Howard Coleman Pack, Sr.; in-laws, Edmund D. Pack, Sr. and wife Barbara Wimer Pack, Howard C. Pack, Jr., Denzil D. Lyon and Tommy Neely.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Norman R. Pack of Stahlstown, PA; daughters, Carol Pack Urban and husband Philip of Stahlstown, PA, Kimberly Pack McCullen and wife Ashley of Siler City, NC; son, Gregory A. Pack and fiancé Amy Lynch of Ocala, FL; grandsons, Ralph N. Puffenbarger and Joseph A. Puffenbarger of PA, Jeffrey A. Wildermuth and wife Zonia of NY, Grant and Evan Pack of FL; granddaughters, Haley Pack Currier and husband Devin, and Olivia Pack of FL; great-grandchildren, Jassmine and Dixie-Lee Puffenbarger, Lilly Puffenbarger, Michael and Logan Puffenbarger, and Dorian S. Wildermuth. She is survived by one brother, Larry E. Lilly and his wife, Donna, of Martinsburg, WV plus the following in-laws, Joyce Pack Lyon, Brenda Pack Neely, Betty Pack Nichols and husband Fred, and Gary Pack and wife JoAnn, all of Pipestem, WV; and numerous cousins, special nieces and nephews, too many to count. She is also survived by many dear friends.
Juanita graduated from Hinton High School in 1959. She and Norman were married December 28,1959 at the home of Rev. H.P. Hackney of Hinton, WV.
She began working at C & P Telephone Company as a directory assistance operator in 1977 and retired from Verizon in 2002. She was of the Baptist faith and had been saved at the age of 12 while attending the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in the Bluestone River by Elder Arvel Neely. She had been a member of the Bayside Baptist Church in Chesapeake Beach, MD before moving to PA to live with her daughter. She was a former member of the Braddock Trail Chapter NSDAR in Mount Pleasant, PA.
Nita, as she was called, never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom loved her home state and missed those West Virginia hills. She never forgot her roots.
We wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff, in addition to the hospice team, who took great care of her during her illness. Your kindness to her was a blessing to us.
Juanita wanted to be cremated after her death. We are honoring her wishes. A Memorial Service / Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will follow with inurnment in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Jumping Branch, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Concordia at Bethlen Personal Care in Ligonier, PA to assist in the support and care of Norman Pack.
The Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton, WV are in charge of arrangements.
