Laura Juanita Woodrum 82, of LaSalle, Illinois formerly of Hinton passed away 11:50 A.M. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Born December 17, 1926 in Hinton she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Anne E. Patrick Woodrum. Attended Hinton High School, Piedmont Bible College and graduated from University of Virginia Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Employed by the Hinton Hospital from September 28, 1952 until July 30, 1977 when the hospital closed. She was then employed as a registered nurse at the West Virginia Prison for Women. After moving to LaSalle, IL in 1981, she was employed by Illinois Valley Community Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Shields; two half brothers, one half sister, one foster sister, one foster brother and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survived by many friends, several half nieces, half nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at First Baptist Church of LaSalle, IL with Rev. Glenn Foster and Rev. Wesley Waddle officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton, West Virginia with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
