Leah Madeline Meadows, 90 years old went peaceably to her eternal home October 26, 2010 carried by angels and surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born November 17, 1919 in Low Gap, Summers County, she was the daughter of the late John and Iva Crookshanks Wood. Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker and a devout Christian who spent her life for others. She visited hospitals, nursing homes and the shut ?ins, she was a living example of love to her family, church, community and all who knew her and faithfully attended War Ridge Freewill Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dorsie Meadows; one son, Virgil Meadows; four brothers, Walter, Raymond, James and Glen; two sisters, Bivian and Althea; one step-granddaughter, Cheryl Koran and one great granddaughter, Summer Pollock.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin Wood and Teresa of Wayside, Bobbie Meadows and wife Jean of Carmichaels, PA and David Meadows of Wayside; two daughters, Barbara Young of Gap Mills and Bonnie Galford and husband Dennis of Wayside; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the War Ridge Freewill Baptist Church in Wayside with Rev. Wesley Galford and Rev. Roger Brammer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Ballengee. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton, and 2 hours before services, Saturday at the church.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
