Leanna Lynn Hocum, 53, of Elk Knob went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, August 28, 2023 at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a short illness.
Born May 6, 1970 in Charleston Leanna was the daughter of Travis and Janet Shannon Hocum of Elk Knob. She lived most of her life in Summers County.
Leanna loved the Lord and loved being in church praising him. She liked to sing, testify and play her tambourine. If Leanna talked to you one time you became her friend. She witnessed God’s love to everyone she met.
Leanna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edgar and Virginia Bowles Hocum and Robert “Bob” and Louise Carpenter Shannon; four uncles and one aunt, Roy Hocum, Bob Hocum, Bob Shannon and Edna and Dolph Harless.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother, Jim and wife Ann of North Carolina; nephew, Joshua and wife Lauren of North Carolina; niece, Erica of North Carolina; four aunts, Diana Shannon, Debbie Shannon, Lolo Robinson all of Charleston and Sherri Shannon of Colorado and lots of cousins; extended family, Glenna, Brandee and Isiah Cook, Mamie Adkins and Bruce Jackson and special friend, Crystal Sears.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Brothers Travis Hocum (her father) and Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the O’Bryan Cemetery on Hix Mountain. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral parlors.
Pallbearers will be Isiah Cook, Bruce Jackson, Matt Stalnaker, Jimmy Boswell, Doug Gill and Larry Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hocum and Joshua Hocum.
The family would like to thank everyone who had any part in the care of Leanna at CAMC Memorial CPICU. Their great care, concern, kindness and compassion not only to her but also her family was greatly appreciated.
