Lottie McKinney

May 15, 1924 — June 2, 2007

Lottie McKinney Via, 83, of Hinton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 2, 2007, following a long illness. Born in Summers County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. James Alfred and Annie Smyth McKinney. On January 12, 1941, she was married to Donald Joseph Via, also of Summers County. They have had many wonderful years together and recently celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and had been a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, Lottie was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Goins, Rhoda Reed, and Rose Lester. In addition to her husband Donald, she is survived by her brother James A. McKinney and wife Brenda of Beckley. Also, daughters Nana Watkins and husband Richard of Columbia, SC and Patricia Kerns and husband Steve of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Greg Watkins of Burlington, NC, Lee Watkins of Atlanta, GA, Kristin Watkins of Columbia, SC, Jonathan Watkins of Wilkesboro, NC, Robyn Kerns McAllister of Atlanta, GA, and Brian Kerns of Dayton, OH; and many loved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors on Friday, June 8, 2007 from 6 to 8 P.M. A service celebrating Lottieâ??s life will be held at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastors Grover Morris and O.B. â??Sonnyâ?? Angell officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton. Grandsons and her nephews, Danny R. McKinney and Donald D. McKinney will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to thank all of those who participated in Lottieâ??s care through the recent years: Dr. Brian Richards and staff; Dr. A. Chhabra and staff; the nurses and caregivers at Hospice of Greenbrier County; and all the very â??special caregiversâ?? at Summers County ARH Continuous Care. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the Greenbrier Valley Hospice 203 S. Jefferson St., Lewisburg, WV 24901
