Luther "Thomas"

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Luther ?Tom? Cox, of Ghent went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2013, surrounded by those who loved him deeply.
Born May 8, 1929, in Summers County, he was the son of the late Wilbert Nelson and Lura Susie Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Imogene Basham Cox; son, Thomas David Cox Sr.; brothers, Fred Cox, Cecil Cox, Brady Cox, Woodrow Cox, James Cox and Clinton Cox; sisters, Linnie Wills, Lottie Farley, Lona Lilly and Lola Basham.
Mr. Cox was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church and spent his life serving the Lord. He completed medical training courses and worked in the community, placing others needs above his own. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and had a special smile that could brighten the worst of days.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Lena Pauley and husband, Charles of Saltville, Va.; daughter-in-law, Trina Jo Cox of Daniels; grandchildren, Thomas Dickerson and his wife Terressa, Pamela Steiding and her companion David Weiss, Richard Dickerson and his wife Angela, Thomas David Cox Jr., Melissa Lusk and Jonathon Cox; great grandchildren, Jeffrey Meadows and wife Morgan, Zachary ?Joab? Steiding, Nathaniel Steiding, Thomas Dickerson Jr., Greg Dickerson, Christopher Lusk, Robert Lusk, Makayla Dickerson and Alexis Lusk; great-great grandson, Brantley Meadows; special brother-in-law, Cecil Basham; sister-in-laws, Amalee Basham, Irene Basham and Claris Cox; many special nephews and nieces that he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton, WV with Warren Shrewsbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Lilly Cemetery in Ghent. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Cox Jr., Jeffrey Meadows, Zachary Steiding, Nathaniel Steiding, Thomas Dickerson Jr. and David Weiss.
His life is a beautiful memory, His death is a silent grief, He now sleeps in God?s beautiful garden, In sunshine of perfect peace, We will miss him so much, But realize God knows best, He let us have him many years, Then gently bid him rest. Papaw, We love you more.
