Macy Basham

Macy Fay Basham, 100, fell asleep in Jesus on Monday, March 19, 2012 at her home after an illness of the last few days.
Mrs. Basham was born at Streeter in Summers County December 25, 1911. She was a daughter of the late G.W. "Wash" and Louie Belle Vest Pack. She was a paternal granddaughter of Samuel and Rhoda Ann Cooper Pack and a maternal granddaughter of Charles and Mary Jane Harvey Vest.
Mrs. Basham was the widow of Guy W. Basham to whom she was married in 1931, he passed away on February 20, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy R. Basham on September 1, 1963 and his wife, Doris. Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Oather, Herbert S., Jess, Pearl and Alfred Pack; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Mann, Mrs. Vada Pack and little sister Lilly Pack and a granddaughter, Dorenda Meadows.
She and her late husband moved to White Oak in the 1940's where he expanded his timber business and organized Basham Brothers Inc. which dealt primarily in mining timbers and rock dust and related items. The business became quite prosperous but neither Mr. or Mrs. Basham ever forgot where they came from.
After the death of her husband and his brother, Mrs. Basham served as president of the corporation until it was dissolved. She enjoyed gardening and canning.
As a young wife and mother Mrs. Basham was born again and united with the Little Primitive Baptist Church at Jumping Branch by baptism in 1939. She remained a faithful attendant as long as she lived.
Mrs. Basham is survived by two daughters, Betty Boothe of White Oak and Brenda Pack and husband Barrie also of White Oak. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Also a grandson, Kenny Boothe, who provided daily attention to his grandmothers needs and two nieces, Judy Basham and Kaye Shephard and a nephew, Clyde Pack and wife Lois.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton with Elder Jerry McGrady officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 22, 2012.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kenny Boothe, Mathew Pack, Ivan Browning, Herman Pack, Josh Browning, David Browning, Larry Young.
All other grandsons will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
