Madeline M. Ward Richmond, 89, of Sandstone went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born June 20, 1919, at Hix she was the daughter of the late Johnnie M. and Pearl Wykle Ward. A member of the Ramp Holiness Church, Madeline loved going to church as long as her health permitted. A homemaker who loved sewing, especially making quilts. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed making meals for her family. Madeline was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Sue Richmond and several brothers and sisters. Survived by her husband of 69 years, Norman L. Richmond; four daughters, Shirley Brackin and husband Jerry of Indianapolis, IN, Erma Napier and husband Jake of Sandstone, Vaunda Dinkins of Hinton and Wanda West and husband Kevin of Brazil, IN; two sons, Emmett Richmond and wife Rose of Sandstone and Travis Richmond and wife Cindy of Punta Gorda, FL; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Ramp Holiness Church with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Family Cemetery at Ramp. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday and one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
