Margaret "Margie" McLaughlin

d. December 25, 2021

Margaret Jane “Margie” McLaughlin of Jumping Branch, WV received her heavenly reward and truly found heavenly peace on Christmas Day, December 25, 2021.

Born on the family farm at Jumping Branch, WV, she was the eldest child and daughter of the late David Lee and Wanda Richmond McLaughlin.  Her nurturing demeaner was evident at an early age and throughout her entire life, she was always smiling, lending a helping hand, offering good advice and always had a warm hug and kiss.  She loved having her family in her home and that home became the backdrop for many gathering sometimes just a quick daily visit where countless memories were made.  The last gathering was held on Thanksgiving Day 2021 when every member of her family was present.  We will now cherish that gathering forever.

Every grandchild (and adult) knew which kitchen drawer contained the honey buns, Little Debbie cakes and other delicious goodies.  She loved nothing more than having the grandchildren and great grandchildren on her lap and loving them beyond measure.  The rules were indeed different when you were at Granny’s house.  She was well known for being present and the loudest fan at any sporting event where her grandchildren and great grandchildren were participants.

Being a Christian was very important to our mom and Granny and she was baptized at an early age.  She was a member of the Central Baptist Church where she had taught the adult Sunday school class, Women’s Bible study, and a member of the choir.  She would spend countless hours studying her Bible and preparing for her teaching.

Our mom and Granny graduated from Hinton High School and attended Beckley College.  She was a longtime loyal, dedicated, and retired employee of the Summers County WV Board of Education.  After retirement she volunteered and was later asked to become an employee of Beckley Health Right where she became a champion of seeking and helping provide healthcare services for the public.  In recent years, still desiring to be a contributing member of her community, she accepted a position as a 911 dispatcher for Summers County WV Emergency Services.  She excelled at this position and impacted many.  She also had served as a hospice volunteer.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Dennis, and her mother-in-law, Lola Judy Lilly, with whom she shared a special bond and friendship.

Her legacy includes her daughters, Tamara Judy, Christy Judy Pack and her husband Chris, and Shandi Judy Morgan, and her husband Mike.  She is also survived by her nine cherished and much beloved grandchildren, Jacob Judy, Maggie Judy Meade and her husband Jake, Dukie Dodson; Ike, Pootie, Lauren, PJ, and Bayleigh Pack, and Michael Judy.  Her four great grandchildren were also special to her to include Jozie and Mallie Meade, and Jace and Tinq Judy.

She remained close and held a special bond with her siblings which include Barbara McLaughlin Bowling, Linda McLaughlin Peters, Dale McLaughlin, and John McLaughlin.

Our family memorialized our cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend in a private service. Private burial occurred in the McLaughlin family plot at Sand Knob Methodist Church cemetery at Nimitz, WV.  Her grandsons and great grandsons were honored to carry her to her final resting place, led by granddaughters and great granddaughters.
