Marvin Ross

July 19, 1948 — October 31, 2009

Marvin T. Ross, 61, of Hilldale, formerly of Beckley, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the Summers Nursing & Rehab Center under the care of a fantastic and caring staff following a long illness.

Marvin was born on July 19, 1948, in Tams, WV to the late Lonzo Munsy and Glenna Elaine Biggers Ross. He attended North Tams Elementary School and Byrd Prillerman where he participated in the band. He attended Mark Twain and played on the basketball and track teams. He graduated from Stratton High School in 1966 and was saved at an early age and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church at Tams, WV. Marvin was formerly employed at Greater Southeastern Community Hospital, holding the distinctive position as an assistant director of environmental services.

Marvin was preceded in death by one son; Stephon Ross, two brothers; Ernest Thomas (Bookie) Ross and Steve Darrell Ross and his first ex wife Vivian Pemberton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children; Michelle, Andrew and Maurice Dues; second ex wife, Almeda Booker; three sisters, Drema P. (Seth) Kellum ( Whom he felt was his twin), Faith K. Booker (His caregiver) and Mathel Ross (Whom he affectionately called Baby Girl); two brothers, Wayne (Jackie) Ross of Blacksburg, VA and Lonzo L. Ross of Beckley; Nieces, Tamera (Rick) Martin, Jenna Ross and Tracy Ross; Nephews, Alvin, Brandon, Jason, Glenn, Mitch and Monte; Great Nephews, Ricky and Devon (Who he loved dearly). He also leaves behind Aunts, Uncles, a host of cousins and friends too numerous to mention; you know who you are. Marvin was the best brother anyone could ever have. He always had a smile and a very kind and loving heart.

A celebration of Marvin?s life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel. Friends may call on the family from 12 noon till time of service. At his request, the body was cremated.
