Mary Ayers

Mary Ethel Ward Ayers, 59, of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Summers Co. ARH following a long illness.
Born March 10, 1950 in Summers County she was a daughter of the late Edward Lacy Ward and Ada Mae Berry Ward of Hix. A member of Central Baptist Church, former Nurse Aide at Summers County Hospital, Mary went back to school and obtained her LPN license and was then employed at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. She loved to crochet, knit, work puzzles, read novels and watch her favorite shows on television.
Besides her father she was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Ray Ward in 1955 and one sister, Juanita Faye Ward in 1969.
Besides her mother those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 42 years, Arthur C. Ayers of Hinton; three brothers, James Edward Ward and wife Lorene of Hix, Freddie Gene Ward of Hix and Charles Melvin Ward and wife Kathy of Sandstone; two sisters, Joyce Ann Bowles and husband Basil of Hix and Dorothy Marie Cales and husband Gary of Sandstone and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Roy Carter and Grover Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
