Mary Jane Neely Riffle Forbes, 86, of 1500 Longridge Road, Charleston, WV., died July 7, 2011, at Harmony House Rest Home, Lerona, WV.
Born April 9, 1925, in Hinton, WV she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Laura Neely.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Hinton High School and a member of the class of 1943. She had been active during the last few years in organizing the class reunion. After graduation she moved to Charleston, WV where she spent the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Scott Riffle and William "Bill" Forbes. She was the youngest of six children and also was preceded in death by her brothers James and Erastus B. "Bud" Neely and sisters Athnol Neely, Oma Bays and Rita Harvey.
Although she had no children of her own she was a mother figure to many children of friends and family. She was a dear and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she seldom forgot to send a birthday or holiday gift or even a card on a special occasion. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Mary Jane's body was donated to the Human Gift Registry.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1401 Washington Street West, Charleston, WV. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life.
